Hier die Meldung zur wohl coolsten Aktion in diesem Jahr:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Endurance Cyclist Jay Petervary To\u00a0Tackle Great Divide Route\u00a0For Final Leg<br \/>\nof No Idle Tour<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.wendmag.com\/uploads\/2011\/07\/JaySouthForkCO-RAAM-745x523.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mountain bike ride from\u00a0Canada\u00a0to\u00a0Mexico\u00a0will cap Petervary\u2019s yearlong 7,000-mile Tour<\/p>\n<p>JACKSON HOLE,\u00a0Wyo.\u00a0(Aug. 26, 2011)\u00a0&#8211; Three rides. Three bikes. 7,000 miles. That\u2019s the simple essence of endurance cyclist Jay Petervary\u2019s 2011\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/noidletour.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">No Idle Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today Petervary will pedal the final leg of his No Idle Tour from\u00a0Canada\u00a0to\u00a0Mexico\u00a0along the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adventurecycling.org\/routes\/greatdivide.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Great Divide route<\/a>\u00a0covering 2,745 miles on singletrack and dirt roads. Departing from\u00a0Banff,\u00a0Alberta,\u00a0Canada, Petervary\u2019s solo, self-supported journey will take him south to the end of the route in Antelope Flats, N.M. \u2013 at the US\/Mexico boarder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo wrap up the No Idle Tour like this is just perfect,\u201d said Petervary. \u201cMy previous two rides this year have been both challenging and rewarding and I know the Great Divide will provide some of the same. Although this is the final leg of the Tour, my work this year is really just the beginning of trying to bring awareness to this important issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Petervary is no stranger to the Great Divide route. In 2009 he and wife Tracey finished the route on a tandem bicycle in 18 days, 13 hours. In 2007, Petervary set the route record in just over 15 days. This year, Petervary will be riding a fully rigid\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbea.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orbea<\/a>\u00a0Alma 29er carbon mountain bike with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slime.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Slime<\/a>\u00a0tubes. Carrying everything he needs \u2013 from sleeping gear to GPS unit to a bike repair kit \u2013 Petervary\u2019s bike weighs about 30 pounds. In the\u00a0U.S.alone, idling vehicles waste nearly 3.8 million gallons of gasoline each day while emitting 40,000 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
